June 22 – Atlanta Artist Lisa Kabus

The beautiful images flanking the outside columns of my blog were created by Atlanta Artist Lisa Kabus.

Lisa Kabus grew up in New England, the Southwest and Mexico, she is a third generation accomplished artist.  Growing up Lisa lived in various art colonies including San Miguel, Mexico and Cape Ann, Massachusetts.  Her youth was heavily influenced by established and successful artist who helped her hone her craft to become a highly regarded professional level it is today.

Her work resides in the realm of abstract expression. Her process is spontaneous.  “Painting is a form of mediation for me.  I allow the painting to emerge and present itself rather than decide beforehand what I will paint.”  Evoking mood and thought is Lisa’s main consideration in all of her works.  She enjoys the pallet knife but often paints her fully realized colors with her naked hands and fingers.  Her compositions flow with energy and movement whether the setting is spare or richly textured.

Kabus has been involved in a plethora of charities ranging from environmental to medical children’s events.  “I learned very early that the more I do for the community the higher the my personal return.”

Her artist career and creative inspiration is sometimes shared with her son, Matt Kabus’ music career and together they inspire one another by often creating in the same space. Lisa’s ultimate inspiration comes from observing human relationships from both spiritual and natural perspectives.

Kabus’ work is widely collected and featured in Southeastern magazines, museums and was recently featured on the Today Show and HGTV.

Buyers include prominent private collectors, celebrities as well as corporate collections.

Lisa Kabus currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia and Park City, Utah.
